Which Boat for My Group? A Rabac Sizing Guide

Boat sizing guide for Rabac — which of our six boats fits 2, 4, 6, 8 or 12 people, with or without a licence, on a half-day or full Cres day.

In short

Match the boat to the group AND the day. Six boats. Twelve seats, 250 HP (Cap Camarat). Six seats min (Remija). Two without a licence (Dalmatinka, Remija). One TripAdvisor guest summed up the Dalmatinka size question: "the 20 PS motor was more than enough for a smooth and relaxing trip." For a six-person honeymoon to Cres, take the Cap Camarat or FIART. For a no-licence couple-plus-friends to Plomin, take Dalmatinka. The five common cases are below.

The Grid

Group Day Boat
2 adults, occasion Mošćenička Michelin lunch Invictus — Italian build, the pretty boat
2 adults + 2 kids Rabac beach + cove half-day Remija — no licence, cushioned bow, ladder platform
4–6 friends Plomin Bay full day Dalmatinka (no licence) or Key Largo 20
6–8 people Full Cres day Key Largo 20 or FIART — both 8-seat, both range
10–12 people, family Cres day-trip Cap Camarat 7.5 — 12 seats, 250 HP, the only boat that fits

Case 1 Two Adults The Occasion

Anniversary, honeymoon, the slow lunch you've been planning for the trip. The boat is part of the photograph. → Invictus (135 HP, 8 seats, Italian build, clean lines). Paired with Slow Drift, Long Lunch — Mošćenička it's the canonical occasion day.

Case 2 Family With Small Kids

Two adults, two kids under ten, half-day, calm water, kid-sized life jackets. → Remija (20 HP, 6 seats, no licence, cushioned bow, ladder platform — kids climb back on board easily). Pair with The Fisherman's Run or a three-Rabac-beach loop.

Case 3 Six Friends No Licence

A group of six wants their own boat but nobody in the group has a recreational licence. → Dalmatinka (20 HP, 8 seats, no licence, large awning, classic Adriatic pasara). Full day in Plomin Bay or a long cove crawl is the right fit.

Case 4 Six To Eight Licensed

Six to eight people, at least one licence holder, full day, Cres distance. → Key Largo 20 (150 HP, 8 seats) for the dry comfortable ride at about 70 minutes, or FIART OASSI 22 (175 HP, 8 seats) for more push at about 60 minutes.

Even if your group size is still moving, send the inquiry — Dražen rematches the boat once the headcount lands. Send us the group + the day, we'll match the boat. /contact/

Case 5 The Big Family

Twelve people, mixed ages, two days, one of them a Cres run. → Cap Camarat 7.5 is the only boat that fits. Twelve seats, 250 HP, sun deck the size of a small terrace. Two families with kids aged 7–14 — multi-family days are an unspoken use case that the Cap Camarat handles in one run; the same group on two smaller boats means two skippers, two routes, two arrival times. The Cap Camarat is the boat we take when we mean it — and the boat the bigger families keep asking for.

What Changes The Recommendation

  • Distance. Cres is range; that limits to four boats.
  • Licence holders. None = Dalmatinka or Remija.
  • Group dynamic. Adults-only and adventurous → FIART. Family with grandparents → Cap Camarat for room.
  • Weather. If chop is forecast, larger boats handle it more comfortably; Dalmatinka/Remija are sweet in calm but uncomfortable in 1 m swell.
  • Budget posture. Smaller boats cost less per day. We don't publish prices but the inquiry quote shows you the trade.

Common questions.

Is the seat-count number a hard limit?

Yes — Croatian regulation. The boat's certificate caps the number of people on board. 12 means 12 (including driver and any kids).

Can two boats run together if my group is bigger than 12?

Yes — we run "convoy" days for groups of 14–18, two boats moving together. Ask in the inquiry.

What if I underestimate the group?

Tell us as soon as you know — we'll re-size if a bigger boat is available. Trying to fit 9 people on an 8-seat boat is not something we do.

Are all boats kid-friendly?

Yes — life jackets sized for kids included on every boat. Bigger boats (Cap Camarat, FIART) are more comfortable for long days with kids; the smaller boats are fine for half-day.
