Dražen and the family.

I'm Dražen Čikor. I grew up around this water — Rabac harbour, the Kvarner crossing to Cres, the konobas everyone has been to a hundred times. My mother started Fru Fru Boats here in 1992, when Rabac was still finding its identity as a destination. She put the first boats in the harbour. I learned the trade from her — the throttle work, the morning weather call, the small-talk with the regulars — and I've been running the day-to-day ever since. It started small and we've kept it small. Six boats, four licensed and two without — enough variety that any group on any holiday gets the right day on the water; small enough that I answer the phone when you call.

Some guests describe the handover as "the settlement was totally uncomplicated" — a phrase I'm proud of. That uncomplicated handover is, in practice, three things: a 20-minute briefing on throttle, anchor and where to call from; a tank that's already full at fuel-pump prices, no markup; and a one-line plan I send the night before with the weather and the berth. Nema problema is not a slogan, it's the operating instruction.

I write in German fluently — about sixty per cent of our guests are German-speaking, and review verbatims like "He speaks also german" turn up often enough that it earns its line on this page.

The site sells a day, not a boat. The boat is how we get you to it.

What we believe.

  • Specs are a sidebar. Sensory comes first. You don't book a Cap Camarat — you book the day a Cap Camarat lets you have.
  • The cruise is the trip. The cove is the destination, but the run there is half the experience. We plan for the gold-hour cruise home before we plan the lunch.
  • Honest range, not promises. No-licence boats can't reasonably do Cres. We say so. The right boat for your day matters more than upselling.
  • The dolphins are neighbours. We follow Cres-Lošinj responsible-observation rules every time. No chasing, no swimming with them, 100 m minimum, 30 min max. They're still here because everyone treats them like neighbours.
  • No prices on the site. Every day is different — boat, dates, duration, skipper, fuel, group. A flat list would mislead more than inform. Inquire, we reply inside one working day.

Our TripAdvisor entry — including the "Meets Animal Welfare Guidelines" badge for the dolphin trip — is at TripAdvisor: FruFru Boats Rabac.

Social channels (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp) are contact options in the footer — we don't surface them as ratings. Stale social feeds weaken trust more than they strengthen it; we'd rather keep them simple.

How the day works.

  1. You inquire with dates, group size, the kind of day you want
  2. Dražen replies inside one working day with a tailored proposal
  3. You confirm with a deposit
  4. The night before, you get a one-line plan + weather check
  5. The morning of, you arrive at the harbour 20 min before departure for the briefing
  6. You have the day
  7. You return the boat and (if Cres) you smell of grilled fish and rosemary

What guests actually say.

Real Google + TripAdvisor reviews — names, dates, sources — are surfaced on the home page. What they consistently note: friendly operation, well-maintained boats, owner attention, value for money, the recommendation-engine factor (guests come back). The dolphin trip review pool specifically references the conservation protocol — the responsible-observation rules are how we operate, not a marketing line.

About working with us.

Who answers my inquiry?

Dražen reads every inquiry and replies personally — that's the operating principle. Inside one working day.

Do you have a team?

I run the day-to-day. For skippered trips I work with a small group of local skippers I trust on the Cres anchorages and the dolphin protocol. That's the "team" — handpicked, not a roster.

Have you been doing this long?

Since 1992 — my mother started Fru Fru Boats in Rabac harbour and I've continued the family operation. Over three decades on Rabac water. The online reviews go back to 2018; the boats and the operation go back much further.

Why "Fru Fru"?

A nickname, a small joke, a name that doesn't take itself too seriously. The boats and the days do the serious work.
